Frequently asked questions

I want to become an ACCA student, what do I have to do?

The first thing that you must do is register with the ACCA in the UK as a student. You have to do this by sending a form directly to them with various documents.

Do I have to write to ACCA to get a registration form?

You can register with ACCA on line or by post. If you decide to register by post, we can send you ACCA Registration Form. Send us by email your address where you want the form to be posted.

Can you register me with ACCA?

No - you have to complete the Registration Form yourself. Therefore when you have completed the ACCA Registration Form and gathered all necessary documents, send them to the ACCA office in the UK.
If you have any problems when you are completing the form then please do email us and we will help you.

What documents do I have to send to ACCA?

You have to send two passport sized photographs, a photocopy of the details page of your passport, a photocopy of your university diploma, and an official list of the examinations you have taken at university. In addition they will need translations of the university documents if they are not in English. Please note that they do not require notarised copies - ordinary photocopies are enough.

When should I post the form?

ACCA must receive the form before 15 August if you wish to attempt exams in the December of that year. If you register as a student between 16 August and 31December you will be eligible to attempt exams in the following June

Do I have to take all exams?

If you have a University Degree it is very likely that ACCA will grant you exemptions from sitting some papers. However, it is the ACCA that decide this (which is why you have to send a list of examinations you have taken at university. Only examinations - they do not count just attending a course.)
When you have received a reply from the ACCA you will know which examinations you have to take.

I have registered with ACCA, do I have to come on your courses?

It is not compulsory to attend courses. However it does greatly help your chances of success.
If you do wish to attend them then the first courses for the June 2010 exams will be in March 2010.
At the moment, you can see the course dates for the June 2010 courses. The course dates for December exams will be in a similar pattern, but will only be for papers F3, F4, F6, F7, F8, P1, P2 and P7

Is my English good enough to study ACCA?

If you are understanding this website, then the answer is probably yes. You should however realise that all the teaching, study materials and exams are in the English language. Do not worry  too much about the quality of your written English – you will not be marked on your knowledge of grammar (grammar is not taught in UK schools!).

Where are the examinations held?

The examinations are held in Vilnius. They are organised by the British Council, who choose the location. They are usually in one of the large hotels. Here for the last 2 years they have been held in the Reval Hotel.

How many exams do I have to sit each time?

You can sit a maximum of 4 exams. Most students attempt 2 or 3 papers in any one session, but it is possible to attempt just 1 paper at a session - or even not take any paper at all.

What is the benefit of studying for the ACCA?

Your accounting knowledge will be improved enormously in all areas of accounting.
Future employers will be aware of your potential, because the ACCA qualification is highly regarded throughout the world. Already in Lithuania more than 80 students have qualified and many hold senior accounting positions in all sectors of the economy
